Hamlet - the Radio Play
* How would this play look on the stage in the days of Radio where there were no moving pictures? Using the art of Foley, music and the script by William Shakespeare (in USC style of course), the company take the audience on a journey through one of the Bard's great tragedies. With a high level of audience involvement and utilising the wonderful medium of the old style radio plays, this is a theatrical experience for all ages (7-13). A high level of original text is used but this comes with the USC spin. Modern references, pop culture and current events influence the production. We help the students be a part of the process as they act as Foley artists, voices and props. A high energy, fun approach to Hamlet, Prince of Denmark guaranteed to entertain and provide a worthwhile theatrical experience for your students (and staff)!
Romeo loves Juliet - we think
* This famous love story captures the hearts and minds of all ages even today. West Side Story and Baz Luhrmann's film continue to keep it alive after all these years. But how was it born? Did Shakespeare write it? What were his influences that inspired him to write one of the greatest of all love stories? This script explores those questions - but not too seriously. Based on the premise that Shakespeare didn't write all of his plays, we join the struggling playwright in his garret as he attempts to piece together the play for opening at the Globe. Along come two actors who realise his failings and they patiently work with him to develop the script - with hilarious results. Part of the criticality acclaimed "Big Willy - the Life and Times of William Shakespeare", this will entertain and inspire future playwrights everywhere - as well as english and drama students. Aimed at the older end of the spectrum, it is also suitable for junior high school students who know the story.
